Jocelyne Khoueiry SODEV Honorary President for Social Development in Lebanon. She received a B.A in both sociology and journalism from the University of Beirut. As the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Al Amal she decided to pursue another B.A in Theology at Kaslik University. In 1995 she launched the magazine “Yawmiat”, which dealt with the documentation of local events during the Lebanese civil war. During this time she also produced a weekly radio program dealing with social and cultural issues. Currently Jocelyne is the head of operations at John Paul II Social and Cultural Center. This center assists families in need through therapeutic and financial means as well as providing shelter for battered women.

Samir Ayoub – SODEV Vice President and Operations Manager.
He attended Iskandar Hall in Beirut for Business Administration. From 1982-86 he worked with several local organizations for war relief, leading a team of professionals and volunteers in disaster relief for displaced refugees from the Chouf province of Lebanon. In 1987, Samir was transferred to the Jounieh Port where he was acting president for two years. This was the primary passenger and cargo port in Lebanon during the closure of Beirut airport during that period. He also chaired a national committee from 1987-90 in cooperation with charitable organizations committed to improving relief efforts during the civil war. Samir migrated to Canada in 1990 and established Elba Management, a business consulting agency affiliated with the Canadian Training and Development Organization. He was also chair of the Education and Training Committee at the Mississauga Board of Trade.

Elias Ayoub – SODEV Regional Director for the Middle East. Elias has received a BA from the University of Guelph in Political Science and International Development. He has worked extensively with the Student Volunteer Connections and the Human Rights offices as an events coordinator and a fundraiser for several human rights issues. Elias has also headed a delegation from Guelph for the CANIMUN UN Conference dealing specifically with biotechnology and terrorism, information technologies in developing nations as well as the issue of debt relief. He was also part of a Canadian NATO delegation at the International Security Conference in Ottawa which dealt with the security situation in a Post-911 world. He also worked at the External Affairs Office in Guelph as a lobbyist for the campaign for the lowering of tuition rates undertaken by that student body. His current responsibilities include establishing networks, securing funds and coordinating fundraising events in North America for SODEV.

Bachir Ayoub – SODEV Regional Director for North America. Bachir is currently at the McMaster University and is pursuing a degree in Political Science. He is currently participating in a student lobby project at McMaster University on behalf of Hamilton area care homes with the interest of raising the personal needs allowance given by the Province of Ontario. He is also a member of the McMaster Political Science Student Association. His other primary responsibility is research for the organization.

Maroun Khalil – SODEV Technical Coordinator. Maroun has vast experience in public relations & event coordination and has been a valuable asset to the Lebanese community in Toronto. He is a Graphic Designer and Web Developer. He is responsible for developing and maintaining SODEV website.

>> There are also many other volunteers and professionals that help the organization through their contribution and services. They include the staff at the John Paul II Center which includes the physicians, secretaries, and the accountants.
